Autumn in Edmonton
The Purple Onion sat just one block south of Whyte Avenue for almost 30 years. This evening photograph shows the true essence of the signage.
The Purple Onion
Since I was 12 years old I've been taking pictures of buildings always with a sense of nostalgia.  Then around 2003, I started photographing the city seriously as I saw how quickly Edmonton was changing and losing many of its historic buildings. In 2006, I reluctantly changed over to digital using my Canon Xti.  Today the digital revolution has become the foundation for my photography giving me a level of creativity that was once limited to the darkroom.  As I studied photography, my skill level grew not only in my use of the camera, but in how I composed a scene allowing me to create  rich and unique photographs.  "Caboose" is one such picture which portrays an Edmonton street with downtown visible in the background.  Please enjoy!
